The 1-Board Model is a structure of church leadership in which a single group of elected leaders do the work of the Staff-Parish Relations Committee, Trustees, Finance Committe, and the Church Council. These leaders are not representatives of the 4 committees, but are part of one leadership board that carries out all church governance. The 1-Board Model eliminates bureaucratic redundancy by streamlining information and bringing everyone to the table at the same time. After a few months of discernment (including a Q & A led by our District Superintendent, Rev. Dr. Johnsie Cogman, on August 28th), Olivet members officially voted to adopt the 1-Board Model during our annual Church Conference on October 20th. Our new Olivet leadership board will meet once a month at the same time every month, and all are welcome to participate (though, only board members have vote). In order to share any kind of proposal or new topic for our leadership board, please check in with Pastor Alex (olivetumcpastor@gmail.com) or our Chair, Tiffany Gaines.
